Hey there,

SouthAfrica 010Well we had a really great day yesterday. In the morning we went to a service which was being held because it was World AIDS Day. It was a really good experience. Over FIVE MILLION people in South Africa have AIDS, it is the worst affected country. It is very sad! One of the photos I have tried to attach (I hope it works) shows a little girl speaking into a microphone. She was one of a little group of kids who got up to share their experience of AIDS as they had been orphaned as a result of their parents having AIDS. It is highly likely therefore that if both of their parents had AIDS that they will also have been born with this deadly disease. So heartbreaking when you realise that so many famillies are devastated and torn apart by this disease.

At the service everyone then lit a candle as a sign of hope and you can see that in the other photo - the little children who have been affected by AIDS holding their candles - very emotional. God is the only answer in this terrible situation.Africa 009

We also got to go last night to the first night of our childrens club which was a brilliant experience. The kids were just adorable (have I said that before hehe). We got to play games with them and sing songs with them and then Alastair and I shared from the story of Joseph and God really helped us with that!! It must have been an amazing story because in the middle of it we had an extreme thunder and lightning storm hehe.

It was very sad as we travelled home in the torrential rain and saw all the shacks and realised that for the people who live here this is a reality that they can never escape. It was unbelievable to think that this is the only shelter that these people have - very sad. And yet the warmth that the people have shown us has been so touching and we just love working alongside them.

I have also attached a photo of the most adorable child - with a grin wider than a cheshire cat!! another possible candidate to smuggle into the suitcase on the way home!!

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and interest, we could not do without it xox
